Several years ago, just as General Hospital icon Anthony Geary was preparing to make Amsterdam his full time home, he got together with his friend and photographer Jim Warren to record an over-the-top travel video of the Dutch city. The result was a 25 minute film with great locations all around the city of canals.
The film was released and hundreds of General Hospital fans were excited to see the eight time Daytime Emmy winner so up close and personal.
More recently – earlier this spring – the film was released on Vimeo – for free! At the time, Tony told ABC Soaps In Depth that he welcomes the release of the film for all to see. “Maybe the gentle canals of home will be peaceful and calming to people right now who are worried, depressed and stressed out by this terrible pandemic,“ he said.
“To you who are in social isolation from me who is in social isolation on the other side of the Atlantic.”
The video highlights not only the canals and colorful city, but shows Tony on his own boat, as he navigates through one beautiful sight after another.
“Tony and I came up with a great little unexpected ending,” said the filmmaker Warren, who also edited the film and sought out local Dutch musicians for the music that is heard throughout. “What started as only a travel video turned into a story of a search of valuable goods,” he said. “It made my yearly trip abroad something very special for me, and the end result pleased me.”
“I’m so glad that Tony’s fans, and those who already love – or will soon – Amsterdam get to see this,” said Warren. “When I mentioned to Tony I was thinking of putting the film online he reacted quickly – ‘Good, you should!’ he replied, and that’s all I need to hear.”
