HAYLEY ERIN: GENERAL HOSPITAL EMMY WINNER AND A PRETTY LITTLE LIARS PERFECTIONIST
Daytime Emmy winner Hayley Erin is still plenty young enough to still be learning about herself. “I’ve always thought of myself as a homebody,” she explains to Hollywood Hi. But, welcome to the world of the coronavirus shutdown. “I learned quickly, that’s only one facet of my personality. I didn’t realize just how important socialization was until I missed my friends and family so much that it hurts,” she said.
Before Covid-19, Hayley had finished a season on Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, a spin off that won’t be back for another season. The talented actress doesn’t take herself too seriously. Is she a perfectionist? “Great question,” she smiled. “No! I’m a very laid back person. Sometimes too laid back,” she laughed. But, on second thought, “there are definitely some things I am a perfectionist about – work and family are two things in my life where I hold myself to the highest standard.”
Hayley’s former General Hospital co-star-turned- director, Matt Cohen, has witnessed her greatness close up, having cast her in his award winning short film, Mama Bear, from 2019. “I can only hope to cast her in anything I direct and would be honored to act with her as well. She is an undeniable talent and fantastic human,’ declares Matt. It just goes to show, an actor never knows where their next job will come from. I love Hayley to the moon.
Matt portrayed General Hospital’s sexy, and of course, emotionally tortured, Dr. Griffin Munro on GH. Off screen, the actors became good friends. “She was like a sister to me while we worked on General Hospital,” he says.
On screen, well, their characters were not at all like she was his sister.
“Matt is one of my favorite people on this planet.” says Hayley. “It was such a joy getting to be on set with him for Mama Bear, which he directed, and I’d LOVE to do it again!” And, she certainly has bigger aspirations. “Maybe next time I’ll direct and he can act,” she jokes. Or is she?
Hayley isn’t waiting on anyone. Earlier this year, she guest starred in the series finale of the historic sitcom Modern Family – in an adorable twist, Her characters returned to close the storyline that she had introduced on the very first episode of the series more than ten years ago.
Regardless if Hayley makes returns visits to General Hospital, makes films or comedy and drama episodic television, once this pandemic is neutralized, you can bet we’ll see her on screen somewhere!
And, when her schedule allows, Hayley also has travel plans, once the country – the world – opens up again. “I don’t think there’s a place on earth I don’t want to see for myself, she said.
